The Ultimate Christmas Village

Here’s how to plan

your getaway to Niagara-on-the-Lake this holiday season.

1.    The Annual Candle Light Stroll starts at dusk on Friday December 1st with everyone lighting a candle in front of the clock tower and walking the neighbouring streets singing Christmas Carols. Take time to admire all the homes decorated for Christmas.

2.    Looking for that special gift?  No problem.   Plan your weekend getaway to downtown Queen Street to shop local artisan one-of-a-kind gifts and treasures.  Still want shopping,  take a short drive to The Outlet Collection Mall for name brand items. After shopping head downtown to Queen Street for a relaxing dinner at one of our many restaurants and pubs.

3.     December 1st & 2nd make sure you have your tickets to the Annual Holiday House Tour,  featuring 6 professionally decorated homes. This is the 19th season for the Rotary which draws people from all over the province and parts of the USA.

4.     To help you get into the holiday spirit, The Shaw Theatre presents ‘A Christmas Carol’   from Nov. 15th to Dec. 23. Get your tickets on-line or at the box office.

5.    Niagara-on-the-Lake is home to some of the best wines and ice-wines in the country.  Wineries are open everyday except Christmas Day for sampling and tours.

  1. 6.    NOTL’s Santa Claus Parade is the largest parade in the region. Saturday Dec 9th the parade starts at 11am. Watch for marching bands from the province and the USA. Members of the Bed and Breakfast Association will be walking and handing out candy along  the route.

7.   Fort George is home to outdoor skating again this year (weather permitting).  If you forgot your skates, don’t worry they rent skates. Treat your family to some hot chocolate too.

8.   And if you still can’t find a gift for that very special person on your list, give them a gift card to demi’s place and let us  take good care of them.

When Ed and I made the decision to move to Niagara-on-the-Lake and open a bed & breakfast we had no idea how much we were going to love this life style. The fact that we can spend so much time with our family while running the b&b is just a bonus. When our kids or our grandkids are visiting they frequently come into the dining room to say “good morning” and meet our guests. We consider ourselves very fortunate that our guests love interacting with them too.

Thank you to all the guests we met over this past year, it was our pleasure to have you stay at demi’s place and we hope you will choose to stay with us again.

We will be closed for a short time over the holidays for some family time and open again in the new year. Please check our booking calendar for our 2018 availability.

From our family to yours, have a safe and happy holiday,

Ed and Demi

A Christmas Carol starts November 15th at the Royal George Theatre.  Join the Shaw Festival to celebrate Christmas with the beloved Dickens’ classic. Niagara-on-the-Lake is the perfect setting to experience a Victorian winter wonderland.

Ebenezer Scrooge is a miserable old miser. But when three ghosts decide to swoop in overnight, he gets the wake-up call of a lifetime. This charming Christmas classic by Charles Dickens has one of life’s most inspiring questions at its heart: what — and who — will really matter in the end? See it brought to life in the historic Royal George Theatre by the Shaw Festival’s world-class Ensemble. Plus, enjoy a Victorian winter wonderland in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Fun for everyone (even Scrooge). (from the Shaw Festival website) Get show times and tickets here.
Take in the show, do some holiday shopping, or have a glass of wine.  You will want to make a weekend of it.  Book your stay at one of Niagara -on-the-Lake’s charming Bed and Breakfasts, Inns or Cottages

Niagara-on-the-Lake is world-renowned for its wine, for the Shaw Festival, and also its close proximity to the natural wonder Niagara Falls, but there’s more to do in Niagara than Taste Wine.

.

Coming to Niagara-on-the-Lake isn’t just for wine snobs and lovers of theatre. There are plenty of activities for the young-at-heart to get out and enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise as well.

Golfing, biking, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding (SUP) are also great activities to clear your head between wine tastings. Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP) Get a different perspective of Lake Ontario and the Niagara River. Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is a combination of surfing and outrigger canoe paddling.

Paddle Niagara, http://www.paddleniagara.com/, offers sunset paddles and even SUP Yoga. Kayaking If you prefer something slightly more steady,

Niagara Kayak, http://www.niagarakayak.com, will meet you at the launch site of your choice and provide you with everything you need including a tutorial on safety and basic kayaking instructions. Cycling If you prefer a dryer activity, there are many bike paths through Niagara and along the Niagara River Parkway. There are even bike tours to the wineries. Bring your own or rent from

Zoom Leisure, http://www.zoomleisure.com, or

Grape Escape, https://www.tourniagarawineries.com/. Or you can even skip the pedaling with an electric bike from

eSkoot, http://www.eskoot.com. There’s even bicycles built for two available for rent.

Golf there are over a dozen golf courses in the Niagara region, including the oldest Golf Club in North America, Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club, established in 1875. With all this to see, you will want to stay a while.

“Our FAVOURITE Place to stay!”
Reviewed by:  Bobikat142    Toronto, Canada

This is our 4th year with Demi & Ed. They are extraordinary hosts; breakfasts are delicious, abundant and they accommodate any foodie requirement. Walking distance to all theatres and many amazing restaurants. We have had opportunity to stay in each of their three suites – finely detailed and very comfortable. Forgot to bring something? Just ask! Our favourite treat is sipping local wine under the huge covered gazebo or in the hot tub in their magnificent back garden!

“Perfect B&B, Perfect Location”

The sweetest area of Niagara on the Lake. A wonderful 5 min walk through the most beautifully manicured century homes to downtown/Queen Street. Highly recommend staying here. The house is sweet, full of character and the hosts are A+++

Excellent bed and breakfast. The hospitality was top notch. Bedroom was clean and modern with a brand new bathroom and fire place if needed. Breakfast was delicious with option to make your own unique coffee or drink the flavored coffee freshly made. There is a backyard that has an area to sit and relax with a hot tub. The location is 3 blocks from the Main Street. Definitely a great place to stay!
